For New Scholars
A “Back2School” campaign was envisioned to promote Copyleaks to new students for the upcoming school year. Promotion materials included designed email marketing toward students who signed up previously to Copyleaks, as well as a fun social reel to promote the visibility of the coupon and promotion. While the email is in typical Copyleaks visual identity, we wanted to take a fun and creative approach with the reel, to invoke a tongue-in-cheek 1930s approach to cartoon advertising while still keeping the Copyleaks visual identity intact.
Storyboard Process
The original storyboard reflects minor changes to the finished reel. The original inspiration was the video game Fallout and its character, the "Vault-Boy", due to their previous marketing material where the game is promoted in similar war-time era cartoons. Once locating the type of advertising and style we wanted to emulate, I started studying rubber-hose style cartoons, and ended up designing our titular concerned "student", environment, and ending PSA.
To add a bit of flair and connect the 1930s post-war rubber-hose style back to the Copyleaks' visual identity, the zoom-in of the badge on the "student" shifts from a black and white color scheme to a dark blue background to signify that the color is being brought into the environment. The inspiration for this transition was similar to that of The Wizard of Oz, of where we are bringing the viewer back into modernity.
